Bond...James Bond

This week on Spike TV they are having eight days of James Bond flicks. I think I've watched four of them so far in their entirety. Last night I was up until 2:30am watching "Diamonds are Forever" an older Bond flick, but I couldn't turn it off...I was enthralled!

So here's a bit of a poll that you can take part in. If you are a James Bond fan, what is your favorite Bond movie? And who is your favorite actor who portrays 007?

For me...I grew up watching Bond during the Roger Moore era. He was smoooooth! Although Pierce Bronson has done a great job...I still am a Roger Moore fan. Too bad Pierce is not coming back! Alright...my favorite flick has got to be "A View to a Kill." It came out in 1985 and was very well done in my opinion. The villan was Max Zorin played by Christopher Walken (need more cow bell!). His side kick in crime was May Day portrayed by Grace Jones (weird and whacked chick!)

Family Packed Weekend

Friday afternoon my family came down to spend a portion of the weekend with us. My mom, sister, brother-in-law (Pirate Jim), nephew and niece all from the Louisville / Taylorsville area. We ate...and ate...and then a little later ate some more. Played our traditional game of rummy. Rummy, by the way is a big deal in my family...about three years ago we purchased a mouse figurine, type thing (see pic)...whoever wins at rummy whenever we get together, gets to keep the mouse and bragging rights until we play again. My nephew Aaron won this time, he's a pretty decent player, but he shouldn't get too attached to the mouse.




We exchanged some gifts, watched "Elf", laughed and ate some more! Just a great time together.



Tonight our church at First Baptist had a great Christmas Eve service...a wonderful time of reading scripture, singing carols, thinking, praying, reflecting on what Christmas is all about. My mind still cannot comprehend that God wanted to provide a way for me to know Him and He did that through His son Jesus. What a sacrifice! Philippians 2:5-8 sums it all up. "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus; Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross."

Merry Christmas everyone! We'll be heading up to Louisville tomorrow after church...I'll do some posting when we return.

Look out Emeril!

My son Bryan wants to be a chef one day. That's been his 'dream' the past couple of years. Already he helps with some of the cooking responsibilities in the Prosser household...his specialty is making eggs and smoothies. Tomorrow our house will be smelling good, as we will be getting ready for a great feast with my family. In preparation of this time we figured Bryan could open up one of his gifts...he's looking sharp in his new chef hat and apron. So one day, be on the lookout on the Food Channel...you just might see Bryan.

Paybacks!

Being a youth minister is an adventure...never a dull moment! There are highlights galore and memories that will definitley last a life time. One of the "things" that goes along with youth ministry is the occasional pranking of either your vehicle or house (or both!) To say the least I've spent many a mornings unwrapping my car from Christmas paper, pulling several hundred forks from my yard, picked up over 300 plastic easter eggs, etc. you get the idea.

One particular youth, who has since graduated, has trashed my truck more times than I like to count...the most recent was just a few weeks ago. And this time he even got Holly's car! MISTAKE!!

So late last night, with the help of a few friends...revenge took place. I'll let the pictures do the talking! Love ya Chris!

Christmas did not come early...dag-gummit

I'm a huge Louisville Cardinal basketball and football fan. Growing up in Louisville I have many great memories with my dad either going to the games or watching them on tv.

Today the Louisville Cardinals got SMOKED by the Wildcats of Kentucky. The Cards just couldn't get it going...I was afraid after the Cards played so many "cup cake university" teams, that they wouldn't be ready for the Cats. This was the Cards first away game and in all places, Rupp Arena, a very tough place to win. But no excuses here, the Cats simply outplayed them.

Tomorrow I'll get ribbed by many friends at church...bummer, I was ready to wear my bright red sweater too! Oh well...I'll still remain a Cardinal fan and I won't be asking for coach Petino's head because of this loss (like most UK fans do when the cats lose!) Go Cards!

Another reason to celebrate

Today is Holly's 33rd birthday. To celebrate we are going to Miyako (Hibachi grill!) and then do a little Christmas shopping. For her birthday I got tickets to see KENNY ROGERS...she's a huge fan...I hope he'll play "The Gambler!" I love my wife...Happy Birthday Bird!

Perspective

One of my responsibilities as a minister is to visit folks in the hospital. I gotta be honest...not always my favorite thing to do, but I know its part of ministry and some folks really appreciate you coming by to visit.

Today I made a visit at a hospital to a family in our church...they have a 14 month old baby who has already been through the mill with different medical problems. Ten minutes before I arrived, mom and dad got news from a pathology report showing this precious little baby has cancer in her brain. I wasn't quite sure what to say or even do...that's why I don't like going to hospitals. But we had a chance to cry together and pray.

Today I thought about some of the challenging things that I'm facing in different areas of my life...that has all changed after today’s visit. They really don't seem all that challenging. It's all about perspective. Please say a prayer for this family.

Dad and Lad Night

Tonight my son Bryan and I took part in what we call a "Dad and Lad" night. We've been "dad and ladding" for several years now. A typical night usually involves food...tonight we went to one of our favorite places, Moe's. (WELCOME TO MOE'S!!!) Following a great dinner we headed to by far our favorite hang out spot, Barnes and Noble. Bryan and I are bookstore geeks! We love checking out different kinds of books and music. Tonight Bryan was looking up books about Japan...he's fascinated with the Japan culture! He can even speak a little Japaneese!

I love my son...he's my legacy, we have such a great time together. I would encourage any dad who may be reading this to strive to be a Godly dad. No matter what goes on in my day and how busy I may get, I want to always give my best time to my family. That's my first ministry...

What up...

Maybe you are wondering..."What the heck is that animal in your picture Jeff?" Well it's a real live camel. My family and I went to the Double Stink Hog Farm outside of Lexington back in October of this year...a great little farm type place. You can pick your own pumpkins, feed some goats...or pet a camel.

Alright...be kind and gentle. This is a first for me. I've never tried this 'blog' thing before, but I've really enjoyed reading others so I thought I'd give it a shot. Basically this blog will be VERY random thoughts, feelings, etc. about...who knows what. Whatever is in my brain or perhaps something that I experienced a particular day. Wish me luck!
